Audio Output MOSFETs

IR continues to improve the performance capabilities of Class D audio amplifier by offering the new IRFI4xxxH-117 series of MOSFETs. In addition to low on-state resistance, the series of half-bridge N-channel MOSFETs provide optimized gate charge, body-diode reverse recovery and internal gate resistance to improve key Class D audio amplifier performance parameters such as efficiency, THD and EMI. For example, the IRFI4xxxH-117P features a typical RDS(on) of 48 mOhms for high efficiency, and a typical Qg of 8.9nC and Qsw of 4.3nC for improved THD.

Features at a glance:

  • Low RDS(on) for higher power density
  • Lower gate charge for higher speed
  • 175°C capability offers improved reliability

Audio Amplifier MOSFETs

IR continues to improve the performance capabilities of Class D audio amplifier by offering the new DirectFET® MOSFET IRF6665. The DirectFET was developed with optimized characteristics specifically for audio amplifier applications. The small can DirectFET® package enables system benefits such as reduced footprint, improved PCB layout, reduced EMI, and improved thermal characteristics over other plastic package devices.

IRF6665, with its improved electrical and thermal characteristics, delivers 100W Pout into 8 mOhms load without a heat sink. Class D audio critical parameter RG(int) has a guaranteed maximum value for improved dead time control. This is an important factor to reduce system THD level.

IRF6665 uses IR’s benchmark DirectFET package technology plus the latest MOSFET process to maximize performance in medium power class D audio amplifier applications. The device parameters are tuned specifically for improved audio performance. This innovative solution enables customers to provide high performance audio systems with better reliability and higher amplifier output power.

Class D amplifier applications range from battery-powered portable products to high-end professional amplifiers, musical instruments and home multimedia systems.

Package Designed Specifically for Power Applications

IRF6665 DirectFET MOSFET has a uniquely simple construction that provides breakthroughs in die-free package resistance and heat dissipation capabilities, increasing efficiency and current carrying capacity of the device in a given footprint for optimal performance.
